This Energy Institute accredited Energy Management Professional course is a follow-up to Level 1: Energy Management Essentials. Its purpose is to continue the foundational education provided by the Essentials course to provide participants with the knowledge, training and skills to become successful energy managers.

This course offers 200 hours of learning, and covers the technical theory of energy use alongside a deep understanding of the commercial and managerial aspects that come with energy management. This course builds upon the outcomes of the Level 1 course, and offers the same ultimate goals for you and your business:

  1. To save energy
  2. To reduce operational costs and carbon emissions
  3. To ensure compliance with energy and sustainability legislation
  4. To meet environmental goals set by the business or organisation

This Energy Management Professional course is available to businesses, organisations and individuals through the Rio Engage platform. This course is available any time, and does not require the participant to take part in any workshops, although a 50-hour work-based project will be required to complete this course.

This course is also modular in nature, and alongside 5 mandatory modules, you must pick at least 2 modules from List A, and 8 modules from List B. These modules are as follows.

Learning Outcomes 

Upon completion of this course, you will:

  • Have a deep understanding of heat transfer
  • Understand fuels and combustion
  • Understand and participate in financing, procurement and risk assessment
  • Be able to implement projects
  • Have a deep understanding of your chosen modules from Lists A and B
Assessments

You will be continuously assessed throughout this course, and will be required to complete a 50-hour work-based project, solving a real energy management problem within your workplace.

This course is 200 hours long.

What qualification will I receive from this course?

Upon completion of this course, you will achieve the Energy Institute Level 2: Energy Management Professional qualification, which will put you in a great position to move on to the final stage, Level 3: Advanced Energy Manager.

Who should take the Energy Management Professional course?

This course is ideal for anyone looking to take on further energy manager training to help them make even more informed decisions on energy management within their workplace, and to aid in employability if they wish to move into or advance further in the energy management field.

The online nature of this course makes it ideal for the already busy professional, as they can take the course at their own pace.

Are there any prerequisites for this course?

This course focuses heavily on advanced energy management topics, and is ideal for anyone who already has at least 2 years in an energy management or similar role, such as energy engineering, sustainability, energy consultancy, facilities management, building services, procurement, or has successfully completed the Level 1: Energy Management Essentials course. 

A GCSE in English, and AS or A level in Maths or Science, or equivalent, would be beneficial in completing this course. Microsoft Excel experience would also be highly beneficial.
